Job Title: Lead Systems Administrator
Location: YP (Glendale, CA)
Job Description:
- Participates in the design and implementation process for new and existing products, with a focus on providing the proper technical underpinning for successful execution of the requirements
- Optimizes and troubleshoots software and supporting services for speed and most efficient use of resources
- Serves as key link between software development teams and IT teams.
- Develops software solutions that facilitate user needs, system flow, data usage, and work processes following the software development lifecycle
- Determine operational feasibility by analyzing problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
- Builds and supports DevOps by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues
- Accomplishes engineering and organizational milestones in line with project plans and task deadlines
Candidate Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field, or commensurate experience required. MS and/or PhD a plus.
- 5+ years experience as a DevOps or software engineer for web based software products
- Strong understanding of development languages/technologies including Python, Ruby, and SQL
- Significant experience with version control, configuration management, and software deployment
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Expert with Linux based operating systems.
- Understanding of networking, replication principles, and multi-datacenter operations
- Expert in performance optimization, configuration, and monitoring of information retrieval and persistence technologies
- Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
- A strong focus on business outcomes, performance optimization, cost reduction, simplicity in design
- Understand complex IT and business customer challenges and apply technology and product portfolio knowledge to solve problems in a consultative manner
- Comfortable with collaboration and open communication, and reaching across functional borders
