The physical heart of Rhee Brothers is our main distribution center in Hanover, MD. Job Title: Assistant Manager of Category Management – Strategic Sourcing Category

Department
Category Management

Qualifications
Strong understanding of food categories (Rice, Seafood, Produce, Meat) and related market dynamics. Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management within the food or retail industry. Proven track record of improving category performance and expanding market opportunities. Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and drive initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to leverage insights into decision-making.

Reports To: Director– Product Category
Compensation: $75K – $90K

Key Responsibilities
Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sourcing team by providing guidance, setting performance expectations, and encouraging professional growth.
• Actively initiate projects for process improvement and performance enhancement.
• Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment between team objectives and broader company goals.

Strategic Sourcing &Merchandising
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies to procure high-quality, including rice, seafood, Produce and meat, at competitive costs.
• Identify new sourcing opportunities and foster strong supplier relationships to ensure stable supply chains and product availability.
• Proactively review SKU performance and communicate with Director to maintain high performing SKUs. Keep reviewing existing products to find opportunities in product line-up adjustment, packaging changes, spec adjustment etc.
• Develop and launch future-aiming new items collaborating with sales team to maintain leadership in Asian-food distribution.
• Define and develop Pan-Asian Food product portfolio, not limited to existing product lines

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
• Develop new vendors to increase product performance and to minimize exiting vendor risk for RB and customers. (Ensure supply through multi-vendor operation)
• Communicate and negotiate with vendors to get the best price. Monitor competitors’ product and price in priority to maintain strong market leadership. (Regular price negotiation per vendors based on team plan)
• Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements in supplier contracts

Market Insights & Marketing Communication& Others
• Keep updating industry, category and product trends to deliver market leadership.
• Analyze environmental aspects of competing merchandise when making buying decisions.
• Develop market communication plan and execute by co-working with sales team. (New product introduction campaign, price promotion and any other marketing promotions on category).

Sales & Profit Management
• Contribute to Sales & Profit target by focusing on each product group’s performance.
• Maintain price competitiveness and focus on cost savings in core items.
• Obtain information about customer needs or preferences by conferring with sales or purchasing personnel.

Job Title: Category Manager

The Category Manager position is responsible for providing market leadership in merchandising and vendor management.
Key responsibilities include sales & profit management, market insights development, merchandising (product management), relationship management and market communication for own product category.

Reports To: Team Manager – Product Category
Compensation: $55K - $70K

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Profit Management
• Contribute to Sales & Profit target by focusing on each product group performance.
• Maintain price competitiveness and focus on cost savings in core items.
• Obtain information about customer needs or preferences by conferring with sales or purchasing personnel.

Product Management (Merchandising)
• Proactively review SKU performance and communicate with team manager to maintain high performing SKUs. Keep reviewing existing products to find opportunities in product line-up adjustment, packaging changes, spec adjustment etc.
• Develop and launch future-aiming new items collaborating with sales team to maintain leadership in Asian-food distribution.
• Define and develop Pan-Asian Food product portfolio, not limited to existing product lines
• Analyze environmental aspects of competing merchandise when making buying decisions.
• Conduct sales meetings to introduce new merchandise.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
• Develop and maintain strong relationship with key vendors.
• Develop new vendors to increase product performance and to minimize exiting vendor risk for RB and customers. (Ensure supply through multi-vendor operation)
• Communicate and negotiate with vendors to get the best price. Monitor competitors’ product and price in priority to maintain strong market leadership. (Regular price negotiation per vendors based on team plan)
• Work closely with vendor to maintain high standard of product quality. Addresses any quality issue with related parties and takes corrective actions. If any quality issue occurred, actively co-work with Compliance Manager.

Job Title: Inventory Planner
Department
Supply Chain Management

Reports To: Senior Manager - Purchasing
Compensation: $60K - $65K

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize ERP and demand forecasting systems to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Devise inventory strategies aligned with projected demand and promotional activities.
• Ensure inventory levels stay within budgetary constraints or safety stock thresholds.
• Proactively identify and address product shortages or potential stock outs, devising recovery plans to minimize backorders.
• Manage and update master vendor and item files within Blue Ridge SCP & Navision ERP.
• Formulate inventory plans for all assigned Stock Keeping Units (SKUs).
• Oversee inbound purchase orders (POs), expediting or postponing shipments as necessary.
• Cultivate strong partnerships with vendors to ensure flawless order fulfillment.
• Handle vendor chargebacks, credits, and penalties related to overages, shortages, or damages (OS&D).

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Proficiency in Korean language.
• Advanced Excel Skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP required.
• 1-2 years of experience in Supply Chain forecasting or planning.
• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving aptitude.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for effective collaboration across teams and business levels.
• Basic understanding of the import process.
