안녕하세요. F-1 VISA로 잘 생활하고있는데
제가 한참전에 SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM 메일을 받았었습니다. 그래서 찾아보니 영주권자나 시민권자가 아니라면 무시해도 상관없다고 해서 그냥 버렸었는데
2주 전쯤에 메일이 또 날라와서 이게 계속 무시해도 상관없는건가.. 싶기도 하고 혼자 미국에 와서 이런거 물어볼사람이 여기밖에 없어서 이걸 어떻게 해야할지 몰라서 글을 올려요.
지금은 학생비자로 학교 다니고있고 앞으로도 그럴것이며 영주권은 있으면 좋겠지만 시민권은 필요가 없을거같습니다. 이런 상황에서는 무시해도 상관없는건지요..
메일봉투안에 종이가 두장이 있는데 첫번쨰장에는
Federal law requires all males to register with the Selective Service System upon reaching their 18th birthday. As of this date, Selective Service has not received a reply to our previous correspondence advising you of this legal requirement. You have not registered, nor offered evidence that you are exempt from the registration requirement.
Refusal to register is a Federal crime punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and up to 5 years imprisonment, or both. If we do not hear from you within 10 days, we have no choice but to send your name to the Department of Justice with a request that you be prosecuted for refusing to register.
이렇게 쭉 써있는데 제가 아직 영어도 잘 못하고 메일도 어떻게 보내는지 몰라서 걱정입니다..
다른종이에는 REGISTRATION STATUS FORM 해서
중간쯤 SECTION A - REGISTRATION.
SECTION B - EXEMPTION STATEMENT 해서 뭘 체크해서
밑에 SIGNATURE하고 DATE적어서 보내야하는거같아요.
