Job Description:

The California Department of Public Health, Food and Drug Branch (FDB) is looking for an Environmental Scientist to work from our Glendale field office. Environmental Scientist will inspect physical facilities, manufacturers, warehouses, storage containers, shipping vehicles and other structures and sites where foods are processed or stored, for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. They will evaluate food processing methods to verify that opportunities for microbial, physical and chemical contamination are minimized and that processors have initiated appropriate controls to ensure safe food production. They will review Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans as well as production and processing procedures, to verify food processors operate in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Incumbents will prepare accurate and neat written inspection reports, regulatory forms, and other documents to complete inspections. They will identify and maintain facts, samples, and other documents gathered during the course of assigned duties.
