A Korean Student Left in Cell, Files $20M Claim Against DEA

A student in his 20s who was abandoned in a Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA)
holding cell for five days without food is a Korean student of U.C San Diego.
He drank his own urine to survive.

Daniel Chong, 23, an architectural engineeringstudent at UC San Diego used Chong as
his last name is Korean.... 
 
 
Chong visited a friend's apartment in University City near campus on April 20, and he was
taken by the DEA office who raided the residence  with other students at 9 a.m. the next
day.
 
The DEA raid the apartment where they find 18,000 pills of ecstasy, other drugs and weapons
and nine suspects including Chong were taken to a DEA area headquarters.
 
After that, he was taken to the DEA office in San Diego and he was investigated for four
hours.
 
He was going to be cleared of the charges and released, but the DEA left him locked inside
a toiletless jail cell and they forgot about Chong in a holding cell for five days.  
 
A couple of days later, all the other students were taken to another facility, he drank his
own urine to keep hydrated, and ingested some methamphetamine he found in the jail
cell to survive while he was remaining alone in the cell.
 
Chong tried to take his own life by breaking the glass from his spectacles and then
attempting to carve "Sorry Mom," on his arm. He was finally found by DEA and was taken
to the nearby hospital immediately and received hospital treatment.
 
Chong was filing a $20 million legal claim against DEA for his serious mental and bodily
harm.
 
Some politicians are demanding the truth be told.
 
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer asked to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for an immediate
and thorough investigation into the matter and Representative Darrel Issa wants
a congressional investigation.
