Break Down Your Own Barrier, and You Will See, Finally!

H’ is a guy in early 40s.  He recently was introduced to a lady who’s teaching at a private institute.  He was very anxious about getting married in his 30s.  However, as he entered 40s, he got rather comfortable about his being single in the belief that there should be his the other half somewhere in the world, and the she will show herself sooner or later.

So, he doesn’t mind being introduced to women whom he never wanted to be associated with before.  He can take women as good friends, not necessarily as would-be spouse.  Now, he comes to think of it and wonders how could he not find a good woman, when the world is full with such fine ladies!

His new relationship with this women is the product of his peace of mind.  Through meeting her, he could learn why some people have hard time getting married.  She is a regular university graduate.  She is a just regular woman in her look, family, job, etc.  However, she had a rather high standard in picking her spouse.

Her most recent date before ‘H’ was a manager of a public corporation, and 2 years younger than she is.  He was not bad at all as a would-be husband, with annual salary of $100K, good look, a house to himself, etc.  And she didn’t take him to marry.  The reason being ‘he is not a college grad’!

H’ felt this woman was full with self-conceit that “those guys were not good enough for her…”  Probably she may keep doing this, driving away a fine guy after another, because of just one deficiency.  She may never be able to get married.

Probably, she wasn’t having a haughty eye, but just couldn’t compromise on this education level issue.  Maybe, ‘H’ is negatively prejudiced on her given the fact she wasn’t able to get married until after her 40s.  What is your thought?...

Man 1: If he has only high schooling and now worked himself up the ladder to become a manager of a public corporation, he is indeed a capable and diligent guy.  Nowadays it is the ability that matters, not the schooling.  There are lot of jobless masters’ and Ph.D’s.  He deserves a lot better recognition that this.

Woman 1: Since I am engaged in sales, I get to meet numerous kind of people.  There are people spending a fortune on their appearance, and none of them are worthy enough.  If a person is looked down upon just because he doesn’t have a college education, it is only a useless prejudice we should get rid of.  As you are interacting with people in the society, you will shortly learn that good characters and personality is far more important than earning a degree from Ivy Leagues.  That woman doesn’t seem to have a right thought, or her mind is pretty much biased.

Man 2: Everyone has something he can never compromise on.  So she might happen to take schooling real seriously.  We shouldn’t blame her so easily for being peculiar about schooling.

Woman 2: As you – whether you are a man or a woman - get older, you want to be compensated more and more.  You may want to meet really high-calibre partner since you’ve waited for such a long period. Since she is over 40, perhaps she has accomplished a lot and owns a lot by now.  And she may want to keep what she has by meeting someone with even more possessions.

Man 3: There’s pervasive misconception about staying single into old ages, i.e. that guy (or woman) must have something seriously wrong since he is still not married at this age…  You may be in your 40s or in 50s.  Still you are entitled to keep your own ideal type in your mind.  What is wrong with it?

Woman 3: I want to ask her this question: How would she think about a man, only with an excellent schooling and no other qualifications what-so-ever.

The blue bird has always been right near you.  Your perfect partner may actually be right under your nose.  And is it perhaps because of your own barrier that is blocking your vision?  You’d better get rid of the stringent criteria to measure up your partner.  Instead, what you need is wide-angled scanning eye for finding good things in people you meet.
